Mod Information
The Minecraft Skyland Survival Challenge server is a modded Minecraft environment. We use the Forge modding framework.
The mods we implement have extensive documentation written by their authors or other contributors. Here are links to the official pages for the mods, including documentation. Click on an image or link below to go to the official documentation site for any mod.
Difficulty Mods
These mods make gameplay more difficult than vanilla Minecraft.
Provides multiple variants to the hostile mobs we all know and love. They’re tougher, look cooler, and have weird, dangerous powers.
Hunger Overhaul
Makes hunger a serious consideration, instead of just an occasional annoyance.
Iguana Tweaks
Adds encumbrance and weight rules. No more carrying six tons of rock!
Utility Mods
These mods give you new player abilities, or enhance existing ones.
Adds many new weapon types to the game, including black powder muskets and cannon!
A personal favorite. Create blimps, hot air balloons, zeppelins.
Adds a mysterious wooded dimension. Lots of new mobs and block types, and a cool place to explore.
Gives you basic starting equipment, and money to kit yourself out in the starting area.
Adds shaped blocks impossible in vanilla minecraft, like wedges and dovetails, along with carpeting and glowing options.
Cut down a whole tree at once!
Lots of Food
Adds many more food types to the game, grown and prepared.
Adds RPG style skills to the game. Purchasable with XP.
Flavor Mods
These mods give the world its distinctive feel and structure.
Adds multiple intelligent NPC types, with roles, jobs, factions, etc.
Creates the distinctive floating island look of the terrain.
You are gonna love these trees.
Adds more non-hostile animal mobs, like crickets, butterflies, birds, snakes, etc.
Ruins
Adds randomly spawning ruin structures in the world. Try to find them all!
Client Mods
These mods improve how your client operates.
The old workhorse of client optimization. Makes your world run much more smoothly.
Dynamic Lights
Adds light from held light sources, in addition to placed ones. Useful for exploring.
